COLUMBIA RIVER FALL SALMON KLICKITAT RIVER FISHING

Columbia River Fall Salmon Klickitat River Fishing is one of my favorite fisheries to guide for Fall Chinook Salmon… The Klickitat River is one of Washington’s longest free flowing rivers that cut through a rugged landscape on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountain Range, pouring into the Columbia River at the town of Lyle, WA.

The Klickitat River has an abundance of life, getting annual return of Spring Chinook Salmon, Fall Chinook Salmon (Upper River Bright Fall Chinook Salmon), Coho / Silver Salmon and both winter steelhead and summer steelhead. The Tribes are the main reason why the Klickitat River Fishing thrives, because they take a vested interest in salmon and steelhead runs on the Klickitat River.

Guided rift boat fishing trips on the Klickitat River are a very popular way to fish the Klickitat, with multiple launches and a lot of water to cover; people come from all around to fish this beautiful river. The Klickitat River is more than just catching; it is the landscape surrounding you, making this place a truly amazing sight to see.

I start Klickitat River fishing trips around the 10th of September, targeting Up River Bright Fall Chinook Salmon at the mouth of the Klickitat River. Using a couple different technique to target these salmon; hover fishing eggs, which requires great technique and amazing bait and also trolling. Klickitat River guided fishing trips continue to into November; chasing Coho Salmon / Silver Salmon. The Coho Salmon start to show up around the 1st week in October and are very fun to catch as well.

Where I launch the boat to fishing the Klickitat River is about an hour and twenty minute drive from the Portland International Airport; 10 minute drive east of Hood River, Oregon and 10 minute drive west of the Dalles, Oregon. I am also able to pick up clients in the town of Lyle, Washington as well.  This is one of the best places to fish and a great area to visit with Hood River Oregon minutes away.
