Jan. 15, 2016 Winter Steelhead Fishing Report

Jan. 15 2016 Winter Steelhead Fishing Report… We had a great day on the water today, my group went 8 for 11 on Winter Steelhead.

We are now Half- way through January and we have had great Winter Steelhead Fishing for Southwest Washington and surrounding Portland area. Winter Steelhead Fishing has its up and downs with above average rain fall for December 2015, but we are now in the new year and fishing has been great.

This year Steelhead Fishing on the Kalama River has been great when the water level was fishable, as of today the Kalama River is running a little high for my liking, but it was producing good numbers of Winter Steelhead this past week. The Eastfork Lewis River is another river that has had a lot of great days so far this year. With a lot of bank access and the low waters made some good Winter Steelhead days the 1st week of this year.

I haven’t personally fished Winter Steelhead this new year on the Sandy River or the Clackamas River, but I have had great reports from friends and other guides about how well both rivers are fishing for Winter Steelhead.

This years’ Winter Steelhead Fishing Technique hasn’t really deviated from other years; pulling pinkish colored plugs seems to be producing in standard plug water or when the water is colored up. Float fishing Jigs and Worms are another go to this year, hitting every hole I come to with both Jigs and Worms.

I am running Guided Winter Steelhead Trips until Columbia River Spring Chinook Salmon Fishing takes of mid-March, if you want information on Winter Steelhead Fishing or need help booking your next Guided Steelhead Fishing Trip please feel free to Contact Me.
